Occupational Hygiene Services Available Across Victoria
Anitech provides the full range of occupational hygiene monitoring and consulting services throughout Victoria:
Air and Chemical Exposure Monitoring
Personal air sampling for the full range of airborne contaminants relevant to Victorian workplaces — silica dust, welding fumes, solvents, isocyanates, metalworking fluids, wood dust, lead, asbestos, and more. Using calibrated sampling equipment and NATA-accredited laboratory analysis, with WEL comparison and formal compliance reports.
Noise Assessment and Audiometric Testing
Personal dosimetry, noise mapping, and hearing conservation program support for Victorian businesses in manufacturing, construction, mining, agriculture, and other noise-exposed sectors.
Silica Dust Monitoring
Respirable crystalline silica (RCS) monitoring across Victoria’s construction, quarrying, manufacturing, and mining sectors. Victoria’s building and infrastructure pipeline — roads, rail, housing — maintains strong demand for RCS monitoring. [Internal link: Silica Dust Monitoring]
Asbestos Air Monitoring
Clearance monitoring and background air monitoring for asbestos removal and disturbance projects. Victoria’s extensive stock of pre-1990 commercial and residential buildings means asbestos air monitoring is one of our most in-demand services. [Internal link: Asbestos Air Monitoring]
Indoor Air Quality Testing
IAQ assessment for Victorian office buildings, healthcare facilities, schools, food processing facilities, and industrial workplaces. [Internal link: Indoor Air Quality Testing]
Fit Testing, Heat Stress, and Vibration Monitoring
The full suite of physical hazard monitoring services — fit testing for respiratory protective equipment, WBGT heat stress monitoring for outdoor and hot-process environments, and whole-body and hand-arm vibration monitoring for plant and equipment operators. Cities and Regions We Cover Across Victoria
Melbourne — Metropolitan and Fringe
Our base of operations and primary service area. We cover all 31 local government areas of metropolitan Melbourne — from the CBD and inner suburbs through the outer growth corridors of Cranbourne, Melton, Wyndham, and Whittlesea. No travel fees apply for metropolitan Melbourne sites. [Internal link: Occupational Hygienist Melbourne — full metropolitan Melbourne service details]
Geelong
Victoria’s second-largest city and a major industrial, logistics, and healthcare hub. Geelong’s economy spans petroleum (the Viva Energy refinery at Corio is a significant industrial complex), food and beverage processing, aluminium smelting at the Alcoa Portland Aluminium smelter (accessible from Geelong base), construction, and healthcare. We regularly service Geelong-area clients and can accommodate Geelong projects in our standard weekly scheduling with no significant travel premium.
Ballarat
Central Victoria’s major city, with a significant manufacturing sector, active construction market, and healthcare facilities. Ballarat’s heritage building stock — particularly the extensive 19th and early 20th century commercial and residential buildings — generates significant asbestos monitoring demand during renovation and demolition. We service Ballarat regularly and combine it with other central Victorian sites where scheduling allows.
Bendigo
A growing regional centre with manufacturing, healthcare, and construction activity. Bendigo is often paired with Ballarat or regional central Victorian projects to minimise deployment costs. Our hygienists are familiar with the Bendigo area and its primary industries.
Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley
Victoria’s food-processing heartland. The Goulburn Valley generates significant occupational hygiene demand from its canneries, dairy processors, grain handlers, and horticulture operations. Chemical exposure from pesticides and cleaning agents, noise from processing equipment, and thermal stress in hot-process environments are the primary monitoring categories.
Latrobe Valley
The Latrobe Valley’s energy sector — historically centred on brown coal, and now transitioning to gas, renewables, and industrial repurposing — has ongoing occupational hygiene requirements. We have experience in power generation, industrial facilities, and the construction and decommissioning projects associated with the energy transition.
Wodonga, Albury-Wodonga, and the North-East
The border region’s manufacturing, food processing, and construction sectors generate regular monitoring demand. We service Wodonga and the broader north-east Victoria region, often combining visits with projects in the Murray Darling basin agricultural sector.
South-West Victoria
The agricultural and food processing industries of south-west Victoria — including Portland, Warrnambool, and the surrounding dairy and meat processing regions — generate chemical exposure and noise monitoring demand. We service this region in planned deployments, typically combining multiple sites.
Victoria’s WHS Regulatory Framework
Victoria operates under the Work Health and Safety Act 2021 (Vic), which adopted the model WHS law with minor Victorian modifications. WorkSafe Victoria enforces the legislation and publishes Compliance Codes — some of which are specific to Victoria — providing detailed guidance on monitoring, record-keeping, and hazard management requirements.
Key WorkSafe Victoria compliance codes relevant to occupational hygiene include the Hazardous Substances Compliance Code and the Noise Compliance Code. Victorian businesses must meet the requirements of these codes or demonstrate an equally or more effective alternative approach.
From 1 December 2026, the new national Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL) replace the previous Workplace Exposure Standards (WES). Victorian businesses should review their monitoring programs against the new WEL before this transition date, particularly for substances where limits have tightened.
Frequently Asked Questions — Victoria
Do you cover all of regional Victoria, or just Melbourne?
We service all of Victoria — metropolitan Melbourne and every major regional city and rural area. For regional projects, we discuss travel logistics and costs transparently at the scoping stage. Many regional clients find the combination of specialist expertise and NATA-accredited results justifies the modest travel component.
Can you combine regional Victorian sites to save on travel costs?
Yes — we actively plan for this. If you have multiple regional Victorian sites, or can coordinate with industry peers in the same region, combined deployments significantly reduce per-site travel costs. This is particularly effective for clients with sites in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, or Shepparton.
Are your reports accepted by WorkSafe Victoria?
Yes. Anitech’s monitoring reports are structured to meet WorkSafe Victoria’s Compliance Code requirements and Safe Work Australia documentation standards. Our NATA-accredited laboratory analysis ensures analytical defensibility. We have prepared reports used in WorkSafe Victoria investigations and improvement notice responses.
We’re a small business in regional Victoria — is occupational hygiene monitoring relevant to us?
If your business uses chemicals, generates dust or fumes, or exposes workers to noise, the monitoring obligation applies regardless of your size or location. Rural businesses — grain handlers, abattoirs, spray painters, welders, farmers using pesticides — often have significant exposure profiles that have never been formally assessed. We work with businesses of all sizes and tailor our scope to what’s genuinely needed.
